About the Guild

Welcome to the Guild of Catholic Home Educators.  We are a loose federation of home educating Catholics who come from all over the United Kingdom. The aims of the Guild are very simple: to pray for one another and offer mutual support and encouragement in the task of educating our children at home for all or part of their childhood and adolescence.

There is a Guild prayer that we are invited to say daily in our homes. As for mutual support, some of us are fortunate to live close enough to each other to share group activities or outings and grow together as families.  Others live further away but keep in touch through social media, emails or events throughout the year.

We hold an annual conference in Birmingham in the autumn.  This is a lovely opportunity to get together for Mass, prayer, sharing and to hear talks on a range of subjects relevant to home education in a Catholic context.  The next Day for Catholic Home Educators will be held on Saturday, 29th September 2018 at the Birmingham Oratory.

We have put this page together because although there is a growing corpus of information about home education in the UK, there is less information for Catholic families wishing to explore this option  for their children.  If you have come here looking for support and information or to find out what is happening locally, please have a look through these pages and write to us at

homeedcatholics@gmail.com

We aim to be able to put you in touch with experienced Catholic home educators who can offer advice and support or with other Catholic home educators local to you.

If you are wondering whether to withdraw your child or children from school to home educate them, you are not alone.  There  is an increasing number of families who are thinking about this step or who have already taken it. We can connect you with them too.

Please consider joining our Guild and linking up with other Catholic families who are seeking God's will in their homes for their children. We are a wide ranging group who follow a variety of educational philosophies and curriculum choices. The Guild believes the best thing is for each family to find the ideal rhythms and methods that suit their own needs and circumstances.

There is no financial commitment for membership. We simply ask that each family join us in praying the Guild prayer daily in the family.  A monthly Mass is said for  the Guild's intentions.

The Guild has been placed under the patronage of  Sts. Zelie and Louis Martin and St. Thomas More as models of holy parenthood. We also ask Our Lady of Walsingham to help us as we nurture and educate the next generation of young Catholics, the future of the Church across our islands.
